"Gabrielle is sleek and black, and it must be said that she possesses both mysteriousness and awareness. In
this painting, she regards the famous art nouveau poster by Steinlen. In my imagination, Gabrielle used a
green crayon to cross out the advertised performer's name and added her own, confident that she would fit
the bill more professionally. I resisted including the crayon at her feet, since she would have been sitting
on it to hide her tracks!"
