In the Beginning
|
Below is the real story of the universe; the way it really happened.
The Bible says in Genesis 1:1-3 that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of
God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light; and there was light."
That's right. In the beginning there was God and nothing else. It didn't say that some force just evolved things!
God spoke things into existence; for He is sovereign and all powerful. After God creates the sun, moon, and stars as
well as the fish, plants, and animals; God makes man.
God made man out of the dust of the earth, and man had
fellowship with God. Genesis chapters 2-3
Man was given a choice of good or evil; to obey
God's commandments, or disobey.Genesis 2:16-17
What did man do? Well, man chose evil - disobeying God's direct instructions.
Fellowship with God was broken because God cannot fellowship with sinners (evil doers), and man was lost.
Genesis 3:11; 3:23-24
This is similar to Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars trilogy. Just
as Adam and Eve chose to do evil, Anakin poorly chose to do the same. According to George Lucas,
Anakin Skywalker became seduced by the dark side of the force. Adam and Eve were
seduced by the dark and evil one (Satan) to directly disobey God.
Then man multiplied and covered the earth, but violence
was everywhere. Genesis 6:5-7
Because of man's wickedness, God destroyed the earth's
inhabitants with water. Genesis 6:13
Only one man believed and served God. He and his
family were spared. "Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark."
Genesis 7:23
Again man multiplied an again did evil, refusing to serve
God. Leviticus 18:25
God chose a nation of people (the Israelites) to serve Him, and He
gave them laws to live by. Genesis 17:1-9; Exodus 20:1-17.
God loved them and watched over them. He sent them
prophets to teach them to obey His laws. Jeremiah 7:25-26
But they rebelled and killed the prophets.
Matthew 23:29-33
God instructed His people to offer sacrifices to atone for their
sins. (A lamb was used for this). Leviticus chapters 4,5, & 6
But they continually failed and turned away from the Lord.
Jeremiah 7:23-24
So God (the Son) left heaven to take human form.
Philippians 2:5-11
Jesus (God's only Son) would become the sacrifice, the Lamb of Atonement
for man's sins. Hebrews 9:27-28
Jesus left heaven to be born in a stable in a place called
Bethlehem. (The picture on the top of this page shows shepherds seeing the sign from heaven - a star which
stood directly over the manger where the baby Jesus laid.) Luke, chapters 1 & 2
A virgin was chosen to bring forth God in human
form. Her name was Mary. Luke 1:26-27
God (the Holy Spirit) came upon her, and she conceived.
Luke 1:35
When this holy Baby was born, He was named
Jesus (Saviour). Luke 2:21
"He was in the world, and the world was made by
him, and the world knew him not. John 1:10
He grew up and was without sin. He healed the
sick Luke 6:17-18
and taught people to love
one another. "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart: and thy neighbor as thyself."
Luke 10:27
He was challenged (and crucified) as a threat to the
established religious and political order, but no one could find fault or sin in Him.
Matthew 22:46; 27:24; Acts 13:28
His was the only perfect life ever lived.
I Peter 2:21-22
Being perfect, Jesus was not subject to death, the penalty for sin,
but He volunteered in man's place and took man's penalty - death and separation from God.
He became our Saviour; through His righteousness deposited in an overdrawn account, we are restored to
fellowship with God, when we accept Christ as master of our life.
I Peter 1:18-19; Romans, chapters 1-8
Thus, on His visit to earth in human form, Jesus had to suffer and
die for the sins of man. Matthew 20:28
A slight parallel can be drawn here from the Star Wars movie. Ben Kenobi gave his life, knowing that Luke
would would be strengthened. Jesus gave His life for all mankind so that those who receive Him as their
Lord and Saviour would be cleansed from their sins and would inherit eternal life in heaven. Jesus was sinless,
Ben Kenobi (in the movie) wasn't. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23
.Jesus was the only man who could make such a sacrifice; for He
alone was without sin.
On this day alone, Jesus fulfilled over 30
prophecies when the Creator allowed Himself to be murdered by man.
John 18-21

Today, many claim that Jesus was a liar, that God is dead, that Jesus
was only a man, that the Bible is a lie, and that the virgin birth is a fable.
YOU MUST DECIDE. If He
was a liar, then forget it!
But if Jesus IS who He claims to be...
your decision will determine where YOU will
spend eternity.
Deuteronomy 30:19
The Bible says you can gain everything (money, prestige, fame, popularity,
etc.) yet lose your own soul. What will you do with Jesus Christ (The Creator and Governor
of the Universe).
Reject Him or Accept Him?
Of all the decisions you've ever made; this will be the most important.
